Core Principle

A MEDIA KIT SELLS THE AUDIENCE, NOT THE CREATOR. Brands don't pay for your followers — they pay for access to your audience's attention and purchasing behavior.

Workflow

Step 1: Gather Creator Data

Ask: What platforms? Follower/subscriber counts? Average engagement rates? Audience demographics (age, gender, location, interests)? Niche? Past brand collaborations?

Minimum needed: Platform + follower count + niche.

Step 2: Build the Kit

Page 1 — Cover & Bio:

  • Professional photo
  • Name and tagline
  • 2-3 sentence bio
  • Key platforms with follower counts
  • Contact info

Page 2 — Audience Overview:

  • Total reach across platforms
  • Demographics breakdown (age, gender, location)
  • Audience interests and purchasing behavior
  • Top-performing content categories

Page 3 — Performance Metrics:

Platform Followers Avg Engagement Rate Avg Reach/Post Monthly Impressions
Instagram 25,000 4.2% 8,500 340,000
YouTube 12,000 6.1% 15,000 180,000
Newsletter 5,000 42% open rate 2,100 8,400

Page 4 — Collaboration Options & Rates:

Recovery & Fallbacks

  • User has small following (<5,000): Focus on engagement rate and niche specificity. A micro-influencer with 3,000 engaged followers in a tight niche is valuable. Lead with engagement metrics, not follower count.
  • User doesn't know their rates: Use the 1% rule as a starting point: charge ~1% of your total following per post. Adjust up for high engagement or niche audiences.
  • No past brand collaborations: Include personal projects, user testimonials, or content performance screenshots instead. Frame as "Featured Content" not "Past Collaborations."
  • User doesn't have analytics access: Walk them through where to find insights on each platform (Instagram Insights, YouTube Studio, newsletter platform analytics).

Constraints

  • Keep the media kit to 3-5 pages — busy brand managers won't read more
  • Lead with audience data, not personal achievements
  • Use real numbers — don't inflate follower counts or engagement rates
  • Include clear pricing — "DM for rates" looks unprofessional
  • Always include contact info and response timeline
  • Update the kit quarterly with fresh metrics
